How to Still Celebrate your Wedding During the Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic
Don’t just stand there crying that you didn’t get to celebrate your original day. Cry because you are celebrating your original wedding date!
It has taken months to plan your dream wedding. Your reality of your vision was just days or weeks away. You were so close to smelling the sweet smell of your florals, seeing your wedding attire fit like a glove; and so close to hearing those two magical words, “I do”! And then, coronavirus decided to show up turning your everyday life into a frenzy – with no regard for your wedding plans.
Here is how to celebrate your original wedding date during the Coronavirus Covid 19 era:
GET DRESSED UP
There are so many options here. Throw on the fanciest outfit you have in your closet; you can even dress up in your wedding attire if you’d like. Be careful though! You’ll need this again for your new wedding date. For a little twist, you can let your partner pick out your outfit.
FIRST LOOK
So your all dressed up with only your living room to travel to. That’s fine – your living room is a special place because it is YOUR living room. It is where you have shared many special moments. It’s now the perfect place for your first look! Set up a camera or phone and record your first look with your groom or bride to be. The best angle would be at your profile. This way it’ll catch the both of you.
FANCY DINNER
Order a fancy dinner. It could be a 4 course meal from a local high end restaurant that will deliver or even McDonald’s. Make use of grubhub, uber eats, or any food delivery service. Either way, set up a nice table cloth, light some candles, turn the room lights off, and have a romantic dinner. Don’t forget to hold hands if your partner’s love language is physical touch.
DESSERT
Don’t forget to order dessert. The restaurant you ordered from probably has some. Yes, even McDonald’s – they have cookies and ice cream. Or you can choose to go all out. Look for a pastry chef to get a special cake made. If you search enough, I’m sure you can find one that is still delivering.
A 5 minute instagram search lead me to the below. Since regulations and circumstances change everyday, please do your research to see if they are still opened for delivery.

ZOOM PARTY
Due to technology, we can connect while we are apart. You’re all dressed up and had an amazing dinner, so now it’s time to celebrate with the family! Set up a free account on Zoom.us. A free account will allow 100 people to join for a maximum of 40 minutes.
COCKTAIL HOUR
You can virtually enjoy some drinks with the family. Or say goodbye and have some drinks, alone with your partner. But before getting off the zoom call with the family…
STREAM YOUR FIRST DANCE
Have your first dance with your family watching. You can either do this on your Zoom call with the family or stream it live on your social media of choice. If you video conference your first dance, you can share the moment with your family with the ability to hear their whispers and their tears. If you stream it (or simply record it), you can enjoy that special moment alone while your family and friends watch quietly – live or later.
Don’t let coronavirus ruin your wedding plans. You can take control and say, “No, Coronavirus! I will not let you ruin my wedding day”. So take out your nice clothes, get dressed and celebrate with your soon to be significant other. Keep in mind that if you postponed your wedding, you will get your wedding! And it will be better than if you had it on your original date. Your family and friends will come and show you so much more love than you could have ever imagined.
